This Summer: Learn to Sew Your Abaya
Join our 3-day sewing camp with award-winning fashion designer Idayat Sambo and create your very own abaya from start to finish.

What You’ll Learn:

Day 1

• Take accurate body measurements

• Learn the parts of an industrial sewing machine (will be used for sewing day 3)

Day 2

• Transfer Measurements into a custom pattern made for you

• Cut the Pattern and Fabric out.                                                                                                   

• Day 3

•  Sew your abaya with step-by-step instructions, with a matching hijab, and learn great finishing techniques. Bring your Home Machine on the LAST day for proper setup (BONUS)

Camp Options:

1. Wide-Sleeve Non-Stretch Abaya Camp 26th june

2. A-Line Stretch Abaya Camp 10th july
   Attend either one or both (separate payment required for each)

Camp Details:

• For girls and women ages 13 and up

• Time: 12 pm – 4 pm daily 

• Location: Covermecutee NGU Fashion House 659 Broadway Ave Bedford, Ohio 44146

• Please bring water and a light refreshment

• Students arriving more than 30 minutes late will not be allowed into class

What You’ll Leave With:

• A completed abaya

• A matching hijab

• A reusable paper pattern

• Foundational sewing skills and confidence

Supplies to Bring (or Purchase In-Store Before Class):

• 6 yards of fabric (stretch for A-line, non-stretch for wide-sleeve)

• Fabric scissors

• Fabric markers or tailor’s chalk

• French curve

• Fabric ruler

• Measuring tape

• Straight pins or sewing clips

Optional sewing kits and supplies will be available for purchase in-store before class.
